The French women underlined their exceptional form at the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon 2024 in Oberhof and celebrated their first relay victory of the season ahead of Norway (+9.3 seconds) and Sweden (+33.5). The DSV stars fell well short of the podium and had to settle for fifth place in front of 20,000 fans. In the end, Vanessa Voigt, Janina Hettich-Walz, Sophia Schneider and Franziska Preuß were 4:20 minutes behind the victorious Frenchwomen.

After a brilliant race to catch up, Julia Simon won the pursuit race in Oberhof ahead of sprint winner Justine Braisaz-Bouchet. "I'm very happy with the race. The fans gave me wings on the last lap," said the 27-year-old Frenchwoman. Norway's Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold finished as third.

The men sprint competition will be postponed from Thursday, 4 January 2024 to Friday, 5 January 2024 at 11.20 am. This was decided today by the organisers of the BMW IBU Biathlon 2024 World Cup in Oberhof in close consultation with the International Biathlon Union (IBU). The women sprint will take place on Friday, 5 January 2024 as scheduled at 2.25 pm.

The organizers of the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon 2024 in Oberhof are reacting to the weather forecast and the expected precipitation today (Tuesday, 02.01.2024) with slight adjustments. Today's cross-country training for women and men will take place from 12 noon to 3 pm on a shortened loop. The shooting range is not available today. Instead, the teams can train in the indoor ski hall and the indoor shooting range.
